The distilleries can be differentiated on the basis of the type of feedstock used. There are mainly two types of feedstock used : - Sugar and Starch based.

Sugar based Distillery are further divided into feedstocks like treated Cane Juice, Cane Molasses, Beet Juice, Beet Molasses etc. Whereas, Starch based Distilleries are further divided into Grains and Tubers like Rice, Wheat, Corm, Barley, Millet etc. and cassava roots
